Dentist in South Portland

Get to Know Dr. Nikki Trone McCabe

South Portland dentist Katherine Paret D M D

Dr. McCabe believes that truly great dentistry comes from a strong relationship between the patient and dentist. That’s why she always starts by listening, ensuring she fully understands someone’s unique goals and preferences. Your smile and your health are unlike any other, so she will fully tailor your care to embody this, leading to a one-of-a-kind smile and lasting wellness.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. McCabe chose the dental field because she loves to work with her hands, work with people, and wanted the opportunity to help patients focus on their overall health and well-being. Dentistry offers the unique opportunity to get a lot of face time with each patient while delivering care that can benefit every part of the body, not just the mouth!

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. McCabe’s dental career began in 2014 as a dental and surgical assistant in both general and periodontal practices. After earning her DMD from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency through Tufts in Maine.

Since then, Dr. McCabe has dedicated the majority of her practice to community health, providing care for underserved populations across Maine, and serving as a preceptor for the residency program where she trained. She is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Maine Dental Association, and the Greater Portland Dental Association.

Currently, Dr. McCabe serves as a Clinical Professor at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine, where she is passionate about shaping the next generation of dentists through hands-on teaching and mentorship.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. McCabe and her husband, Mike (who is also a dentist!), are the proud parents of one daughter, Annie, and their dog, Harriet. A Southern California girl by birth, she loves being outside, cooking new recipes, and doting on her garden and houseplants. She says she’s happiest on long walks, meeting every friendly dog along the way, or watching her daughter delight in the world around her. With family on the West Coast, she also cherishes any excuse to travel.
