Patients come to Mind Your Mouth because they’re looking for a different approach to dentistry – one that addresses the health of the entire body and not just the mouth. Our team knows this, and they will do everything they can to help guide you through your dental journey with their extensive knowledge, experience, and gentle touch. To learn more about the wonderful staff that you’ll meet at your first appointment, read the biographies listed below.
Cheri, Dental Hygienist
Cheri has an impressive 36+ years of experience in the dental field! She joined our team more than a year ago now, and she has thoroughly enjoyed having colleagues that hold the same beliefs and ethics in dental care. Of course, she also loves providing each patient with the best care possible as well! Before joining Mind Your Mouth, she earned her A.S. in Dental Hygiene from Westbrook College and her B.S. in Health Informatics from the University of New England. As a result, she has extensive experience in a wide range of treatments, including local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. When she isn’t at the office, you’ll find Cheri with her family, including her husband and their four rescue dogs, as well as their two sons and seven grand pets. Here’s something you might not know about her: she once used her Basic Life Support training to save her Chihuahua from choking!
Sam, Dental Assistant
Although her hometown is Portland, Sam attended Brown University and the University of Southern Maine for her studies. Since joining the dental field more than three years ago, she has enjoyed learning new things about her craft and those in her treatment chair. Away from the office, she enjoys pursuing her love for art by playing guitar, singing, skateboarding, and doing yoga (just a few of her many hobbies). Here’s an interesting fact about her: she used to be a radio DJ – she even interviewed Twenty One Pilots!
Makenzie, Dental Assistant
Originally from Keene, NH, Makenzie studied at Southern Maine Community College and the New England School of Dental Assisting. In addition to having her dental radiology license, she is CPR/First Aid certified. For her, helping patients feel welcomed and comfortable at our office and working with a wonderful team to achieve their oral health goals is the best part of her job! Outside the office, her favorite thing to do is travel, especially when it involves going abroad and enveloping herself in new cultures. She also likes to volunteer, care for her plants, practice photography, and read.
Leslie, Patient Care Coordinator
Leslie is one of the newest members of our team! Originally from Windham, she completed her studies at the University of Southern Maine and the Vermont College of Fine Arts. For her, providing each and every patient with a warm and welcoming atmosphere is extremely rewarding. Outside the office, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and cat. She also enjoys making polymer clay wall art, gardening, and writing poetry. In fact, her work has been published in a few journals!
Audrey, Patient Care Coordinator
Originally from Millinocket, ME, Audrey studied dental hygiene at the University of New England in Maine. Although she is a relatively new addition to our practice, she already loves being able to help her community with their oral health needs in a comforting atmosphere with our other wonderful team members.
At home, Audrey lives with her Labrador mix named Gracie, as well as two cats named Teddy and Oliver. She likes to spend her free time hiking with her dog, painting, selling her paintings at local markets, traveling to beautiful destinations, relaxing on the beach, and getting out in nature whenever she can.
Our Community Involvement
One of the unique aspects of our practice is that we not only serve people who live in the South Portland area—we live and raise our own families here too! This means we’re invested in making the community better for everyone. As a result, we are actively involved in organizations, events, and causes, as well as local businesses, that benefit the community, including the Ladies Adventure Club Maine and the Portland Farmer’s Market. If you know of a way we can contribute or participate in making this area a happier, healthier place to be, let us know!
