Meet Your Dental & Wellness Team – South Portland, ME

A Team That Knows
What You Need

Patients come to Mind Your Mouth because they’re looking for a different approach to dentistry – one that addresses the health of the entire body and not just the mouth. Our team knows this, and they will do everything they can to help guide you through your dental journey with their extensive knowledge, experience, and gentle touch. To learn more about the wonderful staff that you’ll meet at your first appointment, read the biographies listed below.

Emma, Dental Hygienist

Born and raised in Maine, Emma completed her studies at The University of New England. She graduated in May of 2021 with her certification in nitrous oxide and local anesthesia. Since joining our team, she has thoroughly enjoyed making a positive impact on her patients’ overall health. Creating genuine relationships is a close second! Outside of dentistry, her interests include spending time with loved ones, going to the beach, and going cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Sam, Dental Assistant

Although her hometown is Portland, Sam attended Brown University and the University of Southern Maine for her studies. Since joining the dental field more than three years ago, she has enjoyed learning new things about her craft and those in her treatment chair. Away from the office, she enjoys pursuing her love for art by playing guitar, singing, skateboarding, and doing yoga (just a few of her many hobbies). Here’s an interesting fact about her: she used to be a radio DJ – she even interviewed Twenty One Pilots!

Makenzie, Dental Assistant

Originally from Keene, NH, Makenzie studied at Southern Maine Community College and the New England School of Dental Assisting. In addition to having her dental radiology license, she is CPR/First Aid certified. For her, helping patients feel welcomed and comfortable at our office and working with a wonderful team to achieve their oral health goals is the best part of her job! Outside the office, her favorite thing to do is travel, especially when it involves going abroad and enveloping herself in new cultures. She also likes to volunteer, care for her plants, practice photography, and read.

Leslie, Patient Care Coordinator

Leslie is one of the newest members of our team! Originally from Windham, she completed her studies at the University of Southern Maine and the Vermont College of Fine Arts. For her, providing each and every patient with a warm and welcoming atmosphere is extremely rewarding. Outside the office, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and cat. She also enjoys making polymer clay wall art, gardening, and writing poetry. In fact, her work has been published in a few journals!

Originally from Millinocket, ME, Audrey studied dental hygiene at the University of New England in Maine. Although she is a relatively new addition to our practice, she already loves being able to help her community with their oral health needs in a comforting atmosphere with our other wonderful team members.

At home, Audrey lives with her Labrador mix named Gracie, as well as two cats named Teddy and Oliver. She likes to spend her free time hiking with her dog, painting, selling her paintings at local markets, traveling to beautiful destinations, relaxing on the beach, and getting out in nature whenever she can.

Maryssa, Dental Assistant

Maryssa (or “Ryssa”) has more than seven years of experience in the world of dentistry. For her studies, she attended Southern Maine Community College and the Dental Careers Institute. For her, the best thing about her job is working alongside an incredible team of professionals for the good of each patient – seeing their confident smiles leaving the office is extremely rewarding! Outside of dentistry, she has lots of interests, including cooking, relaxing on the beach with a good book, snowboarding, and DJ’ing. In fact, she has even co-founded a small record label called Therefore Records!
